Stellantis is reportedly in discussions with Chinese technology firm Huawei and automaker JAC concerning a long-term industrial partnership for its Maserati luxury car brand. Sources familiar with the matter suggest the potential arrangement could include joint development of a vehicle leveraging Huawei's automotive technology.
Production for such a vehicle could potentially commence by the end of 2027. The reported plan also envisions selling a vehicle based on the same underlying design under the Maextro brand for the Chinese market and Maserati internationally.
Stellantis has stated that it routinely discusses potential opportunities with industry partners. Huawei and JAC have not yet provided immediate comment. Maserati is scheduled to present its longer-term strategy in December, following last year's annual shipments of fewer than 8,000 cars and an adjusted operating loss of €198 million.
