Stellantis to Use Mobileye Technology for Hands-Free Driving Assist
Stellantis will implement hands-free driving assist features powered by Intel's Mobileye technology. The system is slated for deployment starting in 2027 across the company's vehicle brands.
Automaker Stellantis announced Tuesday it will integrate technology from Intel's Mobileye to power its advanced hands-free driving assist systems. These features are set to be rolled out across the company's various vehicle brands.
The technology includes Mobileye's EyeQ system-on-a-chip and a crowdsourcing data program called Road Experience Management (REM). REM collects real-time data from Mobileye-equipped vehicles to build a global 3D map. The system aims to enable "hands-free, eyes-on driving and intelligent lane keeping on unmarked roads in designated areas and conditions."
Stellantis, which owns brands such as Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, and Peugeot, seeks to enhance the driving experience and safety through this collaboration. Mobileye's technology aligns with the broader automotive industry trend toward increased vehicle autonomy.
The deployment is scheduled to begin in 2027. Stellantis's decision to adopt Mobileye's solutions underscores the competitive landscape for driver-assistance technologies.
