Stena Line to Require Passports for Dublin and Rosslare Routes

Stena Line is implementing new identification requirements for passengers traveling between the UK and Ireland. Effective Monday, September 28, 2026, all individuals boarding ferries on the Holyhead to Dublin and Fishguard to Rosslare routes must present a passport.

The new regulations mandate that only passports or passport cards will be accepted as valid identification for all passengers, irrespective of age or nationality. Other forms of ID, such as driving licenses, will no longer be sufficient for these journeys.

This change is being introduced to comply with stipulations set by the UK Border Force concerning the accuracy and integrity of passenger data prior to boarding. The measure aims to enhance border security and data management processes.

Stena Line's customer service team is actively contacting passengers with existing bookings to inform them of the updated requirements and provide necessary support to ensure a smooth transition.
