STL Wins European Patent Dispute

STL has secured a decisive victory in a European patent dispute.

London – The Technical Board of Appeal at the European Patent Office (EPO) issued a final and non-appealable decision on June 24, 2026, revoking Fujikura Ltd.'s European patent EP 3796060 in its entirety. This ruling resolves a long-standing patent conflict with Fujikura in favor of STL within the United Kingdom and across Europe.

STL, a provider of connectivity solutions for AI-ready digital infrastructure, stated that the decision reinforces its standing in the European optical connectivity markets. The company reports holding a portfolio of 785 patents globally, covering its operational territories.

STL develops solutions for fiber networks and digital infrastructure, applicable to artificial intelligence use cases. Dr. Badri Gomatam, Group CTO at STL, commented that the resolution validates the strength of the company's intellectual property and its research and development capabilities.

"We have deep respect for innovation and intellectual property and rigorously protect our global IP position," Gomatam said. The outcome is expected to bolster STL's market presence and sales, particularly within Europe.
