StockGro Adds Understanding Layer for Indian Investors
Indian investment advisory platform StockGro is launching a service aimed at providing an intelligence layer for new investors, helping them grasp risks before executing trades.

Indian investment advisory platform StockGro is aiming to equip new investors with an intelligence layer to help them understand risks before conducting trades. The platform addresses a gap where easy access to India's stock market, fueled by a surge in demat accounts and app downloads, often outpaces investors' understanding of market complexities and risks, leading to significant losses.
According to India's Securities and Exchange Board (SEBI), nine out of every ten retail investors trading in futures and options incur losses. This trend persists despite efforts to curb speculation, such as increased securities transaction taxes on F&O. The influx of novice investors, often influenced by social media, entering the market without adequate knowledge exacerbates the issue.
StockGro founder Ajay Lakhotia stated that "the market had solved access long before it solved judgment." He founded StockGro in 2020 to offer institutional-grade research, trading tools, and insights from SEBI-registered analysts. The platform positions itself as a preparatory step before a stock market order is executed, aiding users in deciding whether to proceed with a trade or walk away.
The platform's core function is to facilitate better decision-making prior to trading. StockGro allows users to test expert trades or their own strategies in a simulated environment. This enables them to observe potential drawdowns, compare outcomes, and understand the factors driving results. Lakhotia emphasized that this shift in focus from "can I make quick money?" to "do I understand the conditions under which this trade fails?" is crucial for investors navigating increasingly complex financial products.
