Stora Enso is commencing change negotiations with union representatives at its Gruvön sawmill in Sweden regarding a proposal to shift focus to sawn goods operations and close the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) production unit.
Should the plan be implemented, the Gruvön CLT production facility would permanently cease operations by the end of 2026. The negotiations involve approximately 220 employees at the Gruvön mill, including the Nordic CLT sales organization.
The proposed closure would impact a maximum of 80 positions. The company has not yet made final decisions regarding the planned closure or its personnel consequences.
This strategic adjustment aims to streamline Stora Enso's operations by prioritizing its sawn timber business. The company has previously signaled a strategic emphasis on wood products, and this move would further consolidate that direction.
