Stora Enso has released its half-year report for 2026, indicating that sales remained stable at EUR 2,423 million, a slight decrease from EUR 2,426 million year-on-year. The company attributed the stable sales to structural changes offsetting lower prices and adverse currency movements.

The adjusted operating profit (Adjusted EBIT) saw a substantial increase of 27%, reaching EUR 160 million compared to EUR 126 million in the same period last year. This improvement was supported by the ongoing ramp-up of the new consumer board line at the Oulu site, which helped boost profitability. Consequently, the adjusted EBIT margin improved to 6.6% from 5.2%.

However, the reported operating result (IFRS) declined significantly to EUR 16 million from EUR 64 million a year ago. This was due to items affecting comparability, which amounted to EUR -83 million in the period, compared to EUR -35 million in the prior year.
