Students in Schwarzenbek develop sustainability roadmap using system thinking tools
Students at the Schwarzenbek secondary school presented a sustainability plan on November 11, 2016, supported by Consideo GmbH’s system-mapping software.

On November 11, 2016, 19 students from the Schwarzenbek secondary school in Schleswig-Holstein presented a set of sustainability proposals to an audience of nearly 500 attendees, including stakeholders from politics and local industry. The project was commissioned by the waste management firm AWSH.
To develop the strategies, students utilized ”systems thinking” methodology and the iModeler software provided by Consideo GmbH. The group focused on practical initiatives such as reducing paper consumption, addressing food waste, managing electronic waste, and promoting fair trade clothing. Hans-Werner Hansen of Projektbue.ro for Vernetztes Denken assisted in facilitating the analysis.
The project moved beyond traditional environmental awareness, aiming to integrate sustainable practices into the school's daily operations. By using data-driven modeling, the students mapped out how specific changes in behavior could impact long-term resource management and school policy.
