Study: 29% of Europeans Prefer Discussing Sensitive Banking Matters with AI
A new EOS Banking AI Barometer study reveals evolving European consumer attitudes towards AI in banking services. Nearly one-third would rather interact with AI than a human for sensitive financial discussions.

A significant portion of European consumers are increasingly comfortable discussing sensitive financial matters with artificial intelligence, according to the latest EOS Banking AI Barometer study. The research found that 46 percent of respondents reported an improvement in communication with their bank through AI assistance, with only 11 percent perceiving a decline in service quality.
Notably, 29 percent of consumers stated they would prefer to speak with AI rather than a human employee when discussing sensitive banking topics. This preference rises to 38 percent among younger individuals aged 18-34. However, the study also highlights a counterpoint, with 60 percent of respondents indicating they miss the human touch in AI-driven communication.
Consumers largely value AI for its efficiency in information retrieval, speed, and round-the-clock availability. Over half (54 percent) find AI helpful for finding information, and 51 percent appreciate faster communication channels. Marwin Ramcke, CEO of EOS Group, commented that banks should leverage AI as a tool to enhance service, not replace human relationships.
The study also points to a consumer readiness for more proactive AI services. 61 percent desire AI alerts for potential overdrafts, and 51 percent would value AI-suggested payment plans for outstanding receivables. Individuals who have previously experienced payment difficulties showed a greater openness to AI-powered support services from their banks.
