Study: 48% of Employers Prefer AI Over Training New Grads
A recent study indicates that nearly half of U.S. employers would rather invest in AI tools than hire and train recent college graduates. Cognizant, however, is set to hire 1,500 such graduates.

A study by ResumeTemplates.com found that 48% of U.S. hiring managers would prefer to invest in artificial intelligence (AI) tools rather than hire and train recent college graduates. The survey included 1,000 hiring managers.
Furthermore, 55% of these employers have already shifted at least a portion of their entry-level budget towards AI. The appeal of AI stems from its faster onboarding, more reliable output, and potential for 24/7 availability, factors many companies find attractive in the current business landscape.
In contrast to this trend, IT services company Cognizant announced it is on track to hire 1,500 U.S. college graduates by the end of 2026. Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. stated in June at Fortune's COO Summit that the company plans to hire over 20,000 graduates globally this year, expanding its recruitment beyond solely engineers to include candidates from diverse academic backgrounds.
Kumar framed the graduate hiring as both a workforce investment and a statement of confidence in American talent. Cognizant appears to be positioning itself to leverage human talent alongside AI advancements, recognizing the value of new graduates in the evolving technological era.
