PARIS, October 15, 2026 – A new real-world study from Opella, the maker of Mucosolvan and Bisolvon, provides evidence that the success of cough treatments should be measured by their impact on a patient's overall well-being, alongside traditional symptomatic relief.

The study found that patients reported rapid relief from the very first dose. Daily functioning improved from the first day of treatment, allowing patients to quickly regain control over their days. Social engagement also saw a clinically meaningful improvement within 72 hours, with patients reporting increased comfort in conversations and social activities.

Sleep quality also improved significantly. After 48 hours, scores for difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and sleep-related tiredness all showed marked improvement. The percentage of patients reporting these challenges dropped considerably.

Milena Leone, Global Brand General Manager at Opella, stated that the study provides valuable evidence that Mucosolvan and Bisolvon help people move past the disruption of cough and resume their daily lives more quickly by delivering fast-acting relief from the first dose.

The study was conducted in Italy among adult consumers who purchased Mucosolvan (ambroxol) or Bisolvon (bromhexine) for acute chesty coughs, evaluating daily effectiveness and quality of life impacts over a seven-day period.
