Study Finds Gaps in Business Travel Ground Transportation Duty of Care

The National Limousine Association (NLA) and the University Transportation Research Center (UTRC) have released preliminary findings from a new study examining duty of care in ground transportation for business travel. The research highlights deficiencies in how companies protect their employees during travel.
Presented at the GBTA Convention in Chicago, the preliminary results raise concerns about illegal transportation networks increasingly using digital channels to appear legitimate. These networks can pose a risk to traveler safety.
The study aims to provide businesses with a clearer understanding of their responsibilities and assist them in identifying and mitigating safety risks within ground transportation. Particular attention is paid to recognizing illicit operators who may offer services without proper licensing and safety standards.
NLA and UTRC will continue their work on the study and plan to release comprehensive recommendations later. The objective is to enhance the safety of business travelers and ensure employees are adequately protected across all modes of transport.
