London – A significant international study has revealed that a 50% reduction in patient out-of-pocket costs for fertility treatments was linked to a 2.67-fold increase in births achieved via assisted reproductive technology (ART). The findings were presented at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in London.

The research, which encompassed data from multiple countries and analyzed over 140,000 fertility treatment cycles, suggests a strong correlation between reduced financial barriers and increased access to and utilization of ART. This indicates that cost is a substantial factor influencing couples' decisions to pursue such treatments.

Researchers highlighted that alleviating the financial burden could notably enhance treatment accessibility, potentially leading to a higher number of successful pregnancies and births. This, in turn, could address concerns about declining birth rates in various regions.

The ESHRE annual meeting serves as a platform for leading experts to discuss the latest research and advancements in fertility care. The results from this study offer crucial insights for policymakers and providers in the reproductive health sector.
