Study: Rittal's RiLineX system installation up to 75% faster
An independent study has confirmed that Rittal's new RiLineX busbar system can reduce installation time by up to 75% compared to conventional methods.
German electrical components manufacturer Rittal has released findings from an independent study conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) concerning its new RiLineX busbar system. The research indicated that the installation of the new system can be accelerated by up to 75 percent compared to traditional setups.
The study was carried out at the premises of gefeba Elektro GmbH, a medium-sized switchgear manufacturer and a Rittal customer. The results exceeded the manufacturer's own initial estimates, which had previously projected around a 50 percent time saving. The comparison focused on the installation times of the RiLineX system against its predecessor, the RiLine60 system.
The RiLineX system's "Click & Work" principle enables quick, tool-free assembly, eliminating the need for designing and positioning supports or cutting touch-proof covers. The study found that installing pre-assembled RiLineX distribution boards resulted in a 75% time saving in manual work and up to 80% with CNC-assisted drilling. For the modular system, time savings were reported at 60% and 55% respectively.
Marcel Birkenberger, Production and Manufacturing Manager at gefeba Elektro GmbH, described the findings as surprising and noted that the faster installation will help the company offer shorter delivery times to its clients. Rittal states that RiLineX is available as both a pre-assembled and modular system, designed to enhance efficiency in electrical distribution systems manufacturing.
