Stuttgart prepares for fiber optic network expansion
Stuttgart's Gigabit region has initiated pre-marketing for the next phase of fiber optic network expansion. The goal is to establish up to 48,000 new fiber connections.

Pre-marketing measures for the next phase of fiber optic network expansion have begun in Stuttgart's Gigabit region since mid-September. This phase aims to provide up to 48,000 new fiber connections for residents and businesses in the area.
The expansion covers several districts of Stuttgart and surrounding areas, including Möhringen, Hofen, Neugereut, Esslingen, Fellbach, Renningen-Malmsheim, Leonberg, and Eltingen. In these locations, residents and businesses can gain access to Telekom's fiber network.
Hans-Jürgen Bahde, the region's broadband coordinator, highlights the significance of fiber connections as a property value enhancer. He stated that if citizens desire it, households can receive gigabit-capable connections directly to their homes. Telekom is offering free installation of fiber connections for new customers who order by December 15, 2020, resulting in a saving of €779.79.
Over the past year, Telekom has already equipped 25,000 households and businesses in 70 municipalities with fiber internet. The success of the pre-marketing phase is crucial for the realization of this expansion in the Stuttgart region. If sales targets are met, planning for the 2021 expansion will commence immediately.
