Sund & Bælt, Odense Port Negotiate Partnership for Rødbyhavn Facilities

Danish infrastructure company Sund & Bælt and Odense Port have begun exclusive negotiations to establish a future partnership for the development and operation of the Fehmarnbelt project's production facilities and work harbour near Rødbyhavn, on the Danish island of Lolland.

The negotiations will focus on the future use and ownership structure of the site. Originally constructed at a cost exceeding DKK 7 billion, the facility includes large production halls, dry docks, and storage areas with direct access to sea, motorway, and rail infrastructure. Both parties see potential for maritime, industrial, and offshore wind activities.

Mikkel Hemmingsen, CEO of Sund & Bælt, stated that the objective is for the site to continue generating value and long-term employment on Lolland after the tunnel's completion. Odense Port's experience in transforming the Lindø shipyard into an industrial area is considered a key factor.

The parties aim to develop the site into a future-proof port complex that supports local employment and promotes sectors such as maritime, industrial, and renewable energy. A final agreement is expected by 2028 at the latest.
