Sundbyberg Selects Milepost for Public Charging Station Initiative

Sundbyberg municipality is enabling private charging operators to establish public charging stations on municipal land as part of the city's transition to fossil-free transportation. Milepost AB, which recently opened Sweden's largest charging street in Stockholm, is one of the first to sign an agreement with the municipality.

Instead of financing or operating the charging infrastructure itself, Sundbyberg municipality is granting usage rights for land to operators who establish and manage the charging locations. The goal is to have at least 0.1 charging points per registered plug-in vehicle in the municipality.

"Offering public charging spots is an important step in making Sundbyberg an emission-free city. We welcome all actors who want to help us in this effort," says Stefan Bergström, chairman of the urban environment and technical committee. Milepost AB's CEO Jörgen Lantto emphasizes the importance of accelerating the expansion of charging infrastructure. "As long as there is a shortage of charging stations in cities, electric car ownership will mostly be limited to homeowners. The establishment of charging infrastructure must therefore happen faster and on a broader front than today," says Lantto.

Milepost AB specializes in establishing charging streets in urban environments, primarily with 11 kW charging capacity, intended for residents and workers in the vicinity who need to charge their electric vehicles.
