Sungrow Powers Nordic's Largest Commissioned BESS Project in Sweden

Sungrow, a provider of energy storage and PV inverter solutions, has announced the commercial operation of the Nordics' largest commissioned battery energy storage system (BESS) in Ånge, Sweden. The 70 MW / 160 MWh system was developed by Delta Capacity, with Sungrow supplying its PowerTitan 2.0 utility battery.

The system is designed for high reliability and efficiency under challenging Nordic weather and extreme temperature variations. It aims to balance Sweden's power grid by providing rapid response capabilities and capacity for frequency regulation and arbitrage in the volatile Nordic power market.

The project is owned by a joint venture between WOOD & Company Renewables Sub-Fund and Delta Capacity. The deployment from procurement to commercial operation took 15 months. The Ånge BESS facility is located in bidding zone SE2 and supports Sweden's rapidly growing energy storage market, driven by the country's energy transition and regulatory framework.

Sungrow operates 25 local offices and two R&D centers across Europe. The Swedish team is based in Stockholm, with additional Nordic offices. The company has also been involved in the Nordics' largest solar rooftop project in Sweden and the northernmost solar project in Finland.
