Sungrow powers Sierra Leone's energy transition with first national-scale project

Sungrow has successfully commissioned the RESPITE Solar-plus-Storage Project in Sierra Leone, marking the country's first national-scale solar and energy storage initiative. Located in Freetown, the project aims to bolster energy security and decrease the nation's dependence on fossil fuels.

The facility incorporates substantial solar photovoltaic capacity alongside advanced energy storage systems. Its operational goal is to deliver a more stable and reliable electricity supply to the region. This development represents a significant advancement in Sierra Leone's transition towards renewable energy sources.

Sungrow supplied key components, including inverters and energy storage systems, for the project. While the company has a history of similar undertakings globally, this marks its inaugural national-scale project within Sierra Leone.
