Sungrow Secures World's First German Inertia Market Passport
Sungrow's power conversion systems have received the VDE FNN prototype certificate in Germany. This certification grants access to the new European inertia market and facilitates grid connections.
Chinese energy technology company Sungrow has achieved a significant milestone in grid-forming technology. The company's SC210HX series power conversion systems (PCS) have been awarded the VDE FNN prototype certificate by Germany's TÜV Rheinland.
This certification makes Sungrow's systems the first globally to meet German medium and high-voltage grid connection standards and grid-forming performance requirements. It effectively provides access to Europe's new inertia market for the company's PowerTitan energy storage systems.
The VDE FNN, responsible for the technical standards of the German power grid, has comprehensive requirements for grid integration. The VDE FNN prototype certificate issued by TÜV Rheinland is a key quality assurance for European grid operators, developers, and financial institutions.
Sungrow's proprietary "Stem-Cell Grid-Forming" technology allows its systems to autonomously adapt to grid needs, including frequency and voltage regulation and fault ride-through capabilities. This enhances the reliability of energy generation and storage, accelerating project financing and profitability.
With this certification, Sungrow aims to deepen its expertise in Europe's energy transition and offer safer, more grid-compatible energy storage solutions globally.
