Sunrate develops infrastructure for agentic finance
Fintech company Sunrate is building modular platforms to integrate compliance and governance into autonomous financial AI agents.

Global payments and treasury management firm Sunrate is positioning its technology to address the integration of AI agents into B2B financial workflows. As businesses look to automate tasks such as supply chain verification and foreign exchange management, the company is focusing on the technical requirements for secure, autonomous transactions.
Li Yilong, head of AI at Sunrate, stated that the transition from using AI as a simple productivity tool to an orchestration layer requires significant changes to financial infrastructure. Currently, the market is characterized by fragmented legacy systems that were not designed for the volume or autonomy of modern AI agents, creating barriers to adoption.
Trust remains the primary hurdle for the industry. Unlike standard automated systems, AI agents executing financial transactions require a clear chain of accountability. Sunrate is developing modular platforms intended to embed governance and compliance directly into the payment process, ensuring that agents operate within pre-defined parameters set by human operators.
Sunrate projects that B2B agentic payment volumes will see substantial growth over the next five years. The company’s ongoing development aims to provide the necessary framework to move beyond manual oversight, facilitating autonomous finance while maintaining rigorous security standards.
