Supabase raises $150m, acquires database startup Turso

Supabase, an application development platform based in Singapore and the US, announced on October 3 that it has raised $150 million in a funding round led by GIC. The company also revealed its acquisition of database startup Turso.

The funding round included participation from CapitalG, IronArc Ventures, and Square Peg. Supabase attributes the investment and acquisition partly to the growing use of its platform by AI-driven tools.

Turso, a company built around SQLite, will now join Supabase. Glauber Costa, co-founder of Turso, will assume the role of head of agentic services at Supabase. The company stated it is adding over one million users and nearly five million databases monthly.

According to Supabase, approximately 70% of new databases created on its platform are generated by agents or AI tools. Supabase will continue its focus on Postgres, while Turso will maintain its development around SQLite. Existing users will not experience immediate changes.
