Sustainability Global Leaders Conference 2026 Concludes in Shanghai

The 2026 Sustainability Global Leaders Conference, co-hosted by the World Green Design Organization and SINA Group, concluded in Shanghai on October 22. The event drew over 13,000 attendees and featured 15 parallel forums aimed at bridging the gap between high-level policy dialogue and practical sustainability applications.

International speakers at the event identified China as a key driver in scaling clean energy manufacturing, noting that the country's industrial scale has helped reduce global costs for green technologies. Former UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova and former UN official Erik Solheim highlighted these contributions as essential components for the broader energy transition.

A significant portion of the program was dedicated to the socioeconomic impact of artificial intelligence. Turing Award laureate Joseph Sifakis and other experts advocated for global regulatory standards, warning that rapid AI advancement must prioritize human agency and public accountability. The event, held at the Litan Cultural Center, operated under a carbon-neutral framework.
