Svenska Aerogel material assessed in European defence project
Svenska Aerogel's material is being assessed within the European Defence Fund's (EDF) CATHERINA project, which focuses on developing smart camouflage solutions.

Svenska Aerogel is participating in the European Defence Fund's (EDF) CATHERINA project, an initiative focused on developing advanced textile solutions for defence applications. The project is evaluating Svenska Aerogel's aerogel material for its capability to reduce thermal signatures.
The CATHERINA project aims to create intelligent camouflage systems where materials can adapt their appearance to blend with their surroundings, while also managing infrared and thermal radiation. The objective is to reduce detectability and enhance the protection and survivability of personnel and equipment in operational environments.
Svenska Aerogel highlights that their material can play a significant role in reducing thermal detectability while maintaining required functionality and usability. Joakim Wanner, Sales Director, stated that the project's selection validates the material's potential for next-generation adaptive textile solutions.
The initiative spans three years and involves nine partners from across Europe. Expected results for Svenska Aerogel are anticipated after the summer. Due to the project's confidential nature, the public release of findings cannot yet be confirmed.
