Swedish companies score 39 out of 100 in new AI Leadership Index
Elvenite's new AI Leadership Index places Swedish companies in the "AI Adopters" category with a score of 39 out of 100. While foundations for broad AI adoption exist, many companies have yet to embed AI into core operations.
Swedish companies achieved a score of 39 out of 100 in the first edition of Elvenite’s AI Leadership Index, categorizing them as "AI Adopters." The report, based on responses from 163 Swedish decision-makers, indicates that while the groundwork for wider AI adoption is laid, many firms have not yet integrated AI into their core business operations.
To meet Sweden's governmental goal of becoming one of the world's top ten AI nations, companies must transition from experimentation to business-critical AI use. Elvenite developed the AI Leadership Index 2026 to gain a clearer understanding of how Swedish companies are practically applying AI.
The index reveals a gap between interest in AI and its actual implementation within key business processes. Many organizations are utilizing AI for supportive functions rather than as a driver for core operational efficiency or innovation, posing a challenge to Sweden's AI ambitions.
These findings highlight the need for strategic initiatives and investments to accelerate AI integration. Without deeper embedding of AI, Swedish companies may face challenges in maintaining competitiveness in an increasingly AI-driven global economy.
