Swiss Telecom Companies Launch Data-Sharing Consortium to Combat Fraud

Swiss telecom giants Swisscom and Sunrise have established a cooperative fraud risk consortium to share real-time intelligence on fraudulent activities. This partnership aims to bolster customer protection and the integrity of the digital ecosystem.

The consortium allows members to exchange digital risk signals, creating an early warning system. When a fraudster is blocked by one provider, they often target another. This shared intelligence helps members quickly identify and block fraudulent attempts from known actors.

Telecom companies are critical to global digital onboarding and authentication, making them frequent targets for fraud. In 2025, over 5% of digital interactions were confirmed fraud attempts. In its first three months, the Swiss consortium identified over 4,000 high-risk data attributes, leading to a 150% increase in fraud detection for the participating companies.

This collaborative approach shifts fraud management from reactive to proactive. The real-time feedback loop enables operators to act on high-risk signals before a fraud attempt occurs, significantly improving threat management and detection capabilities, particularly against high-risk devices and synthetic identities.
