Swissloop Student Initiative Develops Hyperloop Prototypes with HARTING Components

Swissloop, a student initiative founded in 2016 at ETH Zurich, is dedicated to developing and researching Hyperloop technology. The project aims to contribute to the realization of a CO2-neutral high-speed transport system capable of speeds up to 1,200 km/h through vacuum tubes.

The interdisciplinary team, comprising students from physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science, develops and presents a new prototype annually at international competitions. In 2024, Swissloop achieved significant success, securing third place in the "Complete System Award," along with the "Vacuum Award" and the prize for "Most Scalable Design."

HARTING Technologiegruppe supports the initiative by providing industrial-grade interface solutions. These include ix Industrial® connectors for robust data transmission and Han® S connectors for modular connections to battery storage systems. These components are designed to withstand vibration and facilitate quick assembly and disassembly.

"We are pleased to support Swissloop in their ambitious project," stated André Bättig, Product Manager for Electronic Connectors at HARTING. "Their work represents a significant step towards future transportation solutions and provides students with invaluable practical experience."

The collaboration enables Swissloop to integrate sophisticated systems at an internationally competitive level, serving as a practical training platform for students in design, manufacturing, and project management.
