Sword Art Online Film Integral Domain Set for 2028 Release

Aniplex has officially announced a new original anime film for the Sword Art Online franchise, titled "Sword Art Online -Integral Domain-", with a planned theatrical release in 2028. This marks the series' first completely new, original theatrical film in approximately 11 years, following "Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" (2017).

The film will present a new original story set after the events of the "Sword Art Online Alicization" television anime arc. Promotional materials indicate the story will "venture into new territories". The original light novel author, Reki Kawahara, is serving as the story concept creator, with illustrations and character concepts by abec.

The production team includes director Shingo Adachi, who previously worked on the first and second seasons of Sword Art Online as character designer and chief animation director. Yumiko Yamamoto, known for her work on "Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld", is credited with character design. Animation production is a joint effort by A-1 Pictures and Psyde Kick Studio, with distribution by ANIMEC.

Returning voice actors include Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito and Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna. Further details regarding the specific release month and day are expected to be announced later.
