Synopsys, Siemens Adopt Nvidia's CUDA-X for Chipmaking

Nvidia has announced that semiconductor firms Synopsys and Siemens are adopting its CUDA-X software libraries for chip design and manufacturing processes. The technology giant stated that these tools are accelerating complex simulations and improving precision as the semiconductor industry faces increasing complexity.

Key among the adopted libraries is cuPotential, which speeds up atomic-scale simulations. This library supports AI agents designed to model interactions between atoms and molecules, finding applications in materials simulation, chip patterning, inspection, and the creation of digital twins.

In addition to Synopsys, a US-based electronic design automation company, and Germany-based industrial technology firm Siemens, US-based semiconductor equipment supplier Applied Materials has also adopted Nvidia's technology, according to the company.

Siemens is specifically utilizing cuLitho for chip pattern refinement and mask preparation. Nvidia has previously announced a broader strategic partnership with Synopsys focused on engineering and design, placing Synopsys' adoption within this wider collaborative framework.
