SysEleven and secunet achieve new cloud service certifications

SysEleven, a subsidiary of German cybersecurity firm secunet Security Networks AG, has reached a significant milestone in its cloud service security. The Berlin-based specialist in cloud and managed Kubernetes services has obtained ISO 27001 certification from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), based on the IT-Grundschutz standard. This certification, combined with C5 attestation, makes SysEleven one of only two sovereign cloud providers in Germany to meet all three stringent requirements.

Secunet, a cybersecurity market leader, acquired a majority stake in SysEleven in 2021. The integration aims to offer secure and sovereign cloud solutions, particularly for the public sector and critical infrastructure (KRITIS) operators. Organizations and government bodies handling sensitive data, such as classified information, require such certified services. SysEleven CEO Andreas Hermann emphasized that their certifications support the resilience and security of digital infrastructure.

SysEleven's certified offerings extend beyond traditional Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The Information Security Management System (ISMS) also encompasses storage and database services (DBaaS). The company has optimized its processes during the certification to ensure seamless integration of future services, such as GPU as a Service.

IT-Grundschutz is an established standard developed by the BSI, providing a systematic approach to enhancing IT system security and meeting regulatory obligations. It is particularly crucial for German authorities and KRITIS entities responsible for protecting sensitive data and fending off cyber threats.

The certifications and attestations achieved by SysEleven include C5 attestation for all cloud and Kubernetes products, compliance with IT-Grundschutz, and ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and ISO 27018 certifications.
