Systemair secures first order for units using R290 natural refrigerant
Systemair has finalized its first commercial delivery of Geniox HP DFN air handling units equipped with R290 natural refrigerant for a project in Stockholm, Sweden.
Swedish ventilation company Systemair has signed a contract to supply Geniox HP DFN air handling units to a construction project in Barkarbystaden, Stockholm. The deal marks the first commercial deployment of the technology, which utilizes the natural refrigerant R290.
The order, coordinated with E&E Ventilation, includes a suite of air handling and smoke extraction equipment. Systemair launched the R290-based line in mid-2026 as part of an effort to align its product portfolio with upcoming European Union F-gas regulations.
By integrating heat pump technology with R290, the units are designed to lower the global warming potential of climate control systems. This implementation highlights the industry-wide shift toward climate-neutral alternatives in commercial ventilation, moving away from traditional synthetic refrigerants.
