T-MAXIMUM's Brain Metastasis CAR-T Therapy Gets FDA Clearance for Phase 2 Study

T-MAXIMUM Pharmaceutical announced on October 12, 2026, that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the company to initiate a Phase 2 clinical study of MT027. This B7-H3-targeted, universal (allogeneic) CAR-T therapy is intended for the treatment of brain metastases from lung and breast cancer.

This marks the second Phase 2 study clearance for MT027 from the FDA. The therapy previously received clearance for a study in recurrent glioblastoma and has been granted Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) and Fast Track Designation (FTD). With two FDA-cleared Phase 2 programs, T-MAXIMUM now has a dual-indication portfolio for its universal CAR-T therapy targeting intracranial solid tumors.

Brain metastases are a common and challenging complication for cancer patients, affecting an estimated 20% to 40% of those with advanced solid tumors. This represents a significant patient population globally, and treatment is often limited by factors such as the blood-brain barrier and the need to preserve neurological function.

The development of MT027 leverages T-MAXIMUM's accumulated clinical experience in local delivery and safety monitoring for intracranial solid tumors. The company has previously presented promising data with similar therapies, and MT027 is manufactured using a non-viral gene-editing process, which is expected to enhance product safety and consistency.
