T-Mobile to Close Retail Stores, Lay Off Workers in Washington State
T-Mobile has announced plans to close six retail stores and lay off 63 employees in Washington state. The layoffs are scheduled to occur between late September and mid-November 2026.
T-Mobile is continuing to reduce its retail footprint and workforce in Washington state, with 63 new layoffs and six store closures announced. The affected employees, working across a mix of retail locations and the company's headquarters, will see their employment end between September 21 and November 18, 2026. An additional 14 workers will also depart during this period, following previously deferred layoff notices.
The company has informed the Washington Employment Security Department about the changes. The six stores slated for closure are located in Seattle (1216 N 45th St.), Bellingham (1315 West Bakerview Rd.), Bothell (22309 30th Dr SE), Vancouver (305 SE Chkalov Dr), Kennewick (1220 N Columbia Center Blvd.), and Tacoma (3802 Pacific Ave). In some instances, employees affected by store closures have been offered relocation opportunities.
These workforce adjustments are part of a larger restructuring effort within T-Mobile. For the first half of 2026, the company's U.S. headcount decreased by 4,671 employees, representing a 6.7% reduction from January 1 to June 30, according to its majority owner, Deutsche Telekom.
