T. Vreugdenhil adopts electric Scania 40R truck

Transport company T. Vreugdenhil B.V. has introduced a fully electric Scania 40R tractor unit, marking a significant step in its sustainability efforts. The vehicle features the largest available battery capacity of 624 kWh and an air-suspended front axle. A second electric Scania with the same configuration is expected to be delivered soon.

T. Vreugdenhil, a family-owned business with over 50 years of experience in transporting vegetables, fruits, and vegetable plants, will initially deploy the new electric truck for domestic transport. This investment is part of the company's broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and enhance its operational sustainability.

The company plans to charge the electric trucks at its own facility in De Lier once the charging infrastructure is fully operational. Until then, T. Vreugdenhil will utilize charging facilities at a nearby partner, a collaboration highlighting the importance of partnerships during the energy transition.

Driver acceptance of the electric truck has been positive, with feedback indicating satisfaction with the vehicle's comfort and performance, even under load and on challenging routes. The company was recently awarded a Lean & Green star for its emission reduction efforts.
