The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) hosted its second U.S. workshop in Chicago on September 16, 2026, signifying the island's return to the Midwest market after a seven-year hiatus. The event attracted 53 local travel industry representatives, alongside diplomatic guests.

The Chicago workshop was part of a three-city series, including New York and Los Angeles, designed to connect Taiwanese travel agencies, hotels, and airlines with North American travel professionals. The aim was to introduce Taiwan's latest tourism offerings and foster new business partnerships.

In 2025, over 710,000 visitors from the United States traveled to Taiwan, with nearly 60% visiting for tourism purposes, a record for the destination. Strong air connectivity supports this growth, with over 200 weekly round-trip flights linking Taiwan to 13 major North American cities.

TTA's "Tourism Dual-Wheel Drive Program" focuses on attracting repeat visitors and MICE travelers who extend their stays for leisure. Repeat visitors accounted for 42.25% of all visitors to Taiwan in 2025, matching the pre-pandemic peak.
