Taiwan's ORing Enhances In-Train Connectivity with New Ethernet Switches
Taiwanese manufacturer ORing Industrial Networking has launched its next-generation IRoN series of railway Ethernet switches. The new products aim to improve reliability and security for onboard train networks.
ORing Industrial Networking, a Taiwanese specialist in industrial networking, unveiled its next-generation IRoN series of railway Ethernet switches at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin in September 2026. The company seeks to bolster the reliability and security of onboard train networks amid increasing digitalization.
The new switches are designed to meet the demanding requirements of the railway sector, integrating critical control communications, video surveillance, and passenger information systems onto a single infrastructure. Selected IRoN models feature Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) technology, 10 GbE connectivity, or PoE++ power delivery. These capabilities aim to simplify cabling and device management while ensuring the performance and determinism crucial for time-sensitive railway communications.
Security is incorporated into the design from the outset. The IRoN series is being developed to meet the requirements of IEC 62443-4-2 security level 2 and is pursuing certification. The development also considers the EU Cyber Resilience Act, focusing on device-level protection to help clients anticipate stricter regulatory demands.
ORing has deployed its networking products in passenger and freight rail projects across Europe, the United States, and Asia. The company is expanding its portfolio of EN 50155 compliant products, aiming to provide the growing technical expertise required by rail programs.
