Take-Two Stops Fan-Made GTA 5 Port Project
Take-Two Interactive has halted a fan-developed project aiming to bring Grand Theft Auto V to Nintendo Switch and Android devices.
Take-Two Interactive has ended a fan-created project that aimed to port the popular game Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) to Nintendo Switch and Android devices.
The development team, known as Paralympics Production, announced it would cease operations on October 3 after receiving a formal cease-and-desist letter from Take-Two's legal department. The intervention was likely prompted by the project's reliance on leaked GTA 5 source code.
According to the team, Take-Two took a firm stance, demanding the immediate termination of all development work. Although no official port exists for these platforms, the fan project had reportedly made significant progress in enabling the game to run natively without cloud streaming.
GTA 5 is one of the best-selling video games of all time, and its publisher, Take-Two Interactive, is known for protecting its intellectual property. Unsanctioned fan-made ports or modifications can pose risks to a game's commercial value and brand integrity.
