Tampa General Hospital ranks among top facilities in Newsweek 2027 state index
Tampa General Hospital has been named the third-best hospital in Florida and the highest-ranked facility on the state's west coast in Newsweek's 2027 state hospital rankings.

Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has secured the third position in Florida within Newsweek's America's Best-in-State Hospitals 2027 report. The ranking marks the fourth consecutive year that the institution has been recognized as the top-performing facility in the Tampa Bay region, a status it has maintained since the inception of the methodology.
The ranking evaluates hospitals based on key quality metrics, institutional reputation, patient satisfaction, and patient-reported outcomes. TGH operates as an academic health system in affiliation with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, which allows it to provide specialized services including a Level I trauma center and comprehensive organ transplant programs.
John Couris, president and CEO of the Florida Health Sciences Center, stated that the ranking highlights the institution's commitment to delivering academic-based medicine to a service area covering 23 counties. The organization has recently expanded its reach through a growing network of hospital and outpatient facilities across the state.
This latest recognition adds to a series of honors for TGH in 2026, which included a recurring top spot in U.S. News & World Report's regional rankings and inclusion in international lists focusing on both specialized care and digital hospital infrastructure.
