Tamron has released a new 16-50mm F2.8 A lens for mirrorless cameras, available in Sony E and Canon RF mount versions. Pre-orders begin October 29th, with pricing starting at approximately $380 USD.
Camera lens manufacturer Tamron has introduced its new 16-50mm F2.8 A lens, designed for mirrorless cameras. The lens will be available with two widely adopted mounts: Sony E and Canon RF. The company announced pre-orders will commence on October 29th.
The Sony E-mount version is priced at 2,999 yuan (approximately $410 USD), while the Canon RF-mount version will retail for 2,749 yuan (approximately $380 USD). Both models feature a constant F2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range, enabling shooting in low light conditions and producing desirable background blur for portraits.
The optical construction comprises 14 elements arranged in 10 groups, incorporating a 7-blade rounded diaphragm. The lens is built with a dust and moisture-resistant structure and features an anti-fouling coating. Autofocus is handled by a fast VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme dynamic drive) linear motor, suitable for both still photography and video recording.
Minimum focusing distances are 0.15 meters at the wide end and 0.29 meters at the telephoto end. The Sony version measures 79.6mm in length and weighs 305 grams. The lens aims to provide versatile performance for various shooting scenarios, from wide-angle landscapes to close-up details.
