Tata Communications Launches Voice AI Platform for Small Businesses
Tata Communications is launching a new voice AI platform targeting India's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups. The product leverages technology from a recently acquired AI startup.

Tata Communications is targeting India's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and early-stage startups as its next growth market. The telecom giant has unveiled its first AI product, a voice AI platform developed in conjunction with Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS).
The platform is designed to assist small and medium businesses (SMBs) by performing tasks such as answering customer inquiries, scheduling appointments, processing orders, and providing customer support. It utilizes technology from the AI startup Commotion, acquired by Tata Communications previously. The company describes the system as a conversational AI solution offering human-like interactions with low latency and high accuracy.
This launch is part of a broader Tata Group initiative to build a unified AI infrastructure and product suite for businesses. The pricing model is based on the outcomes generated by the AI agents rather than per-minute charges, aiming to reduce barriers to AI adoption for SMEs, who often face challenges with cost and technical expertise.
Tata Communications has been expanding its AI strategy over recent years with investments in AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications. Earlier this year, the company partnered with NVIDIA to build AI cloud infrastructure in India, including the deployment of one of the country's largest GPU-based supercomputers.
