Taylor Farms recalls jalapeño products amid Salmonella outbreak
Taylor Farms is recalling products containing jalapeños due to a potential Salmonella contamination linked to a multi-state outbreak. This occurs as a separate Cyclospora outbreak has been linked to the company's iceberg lettuce.
Taylor Farms has initiated a recall of all products containing jalapeños, citing concerns over potential Salmonella contamination. The company has identified the recalled jalapeños as the source of the issue.
The recall affects a variety of items, including diced jalapeños, dips, salsas, pico de gallo, guacamole, and pre-made salads, burritos, and sandwiches. These products were distributed across 26 states and sold at major retailers nationwide.
The recalled jalapeños originated from Coast Citrus Distributors, which was previously linked to a large Salmonella outbreak infecting at least 345 people in 27 states. At least 36 individuals required hospitalization, though no fatalities have been reported.
This jalapeño recall is separate from an ongoing Cyclospora outbreak that has been linked to Taylor Farms' iceberg lettuce products. The company is urging consumers to check their refrigerators for the affected items and discard them.
