Taylor Fresh Foods has expanded its voluntary recall to encompass 20 products that contain jalapeños. The company announced the recall on August 9, following U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigations linking several salmonella illnesses to jalapeños originating from Sinaloa, Mexico.
These jalapeños were initially distributed through Coast Citrus Distributors and have been associated with a broader salmonella outbreak that has affected restaurant chains such as Chipotle Mexican Grill and Qdoba. Taylor Fresh Foods has stated that its recalled products utilize these potentially contaminated jalapeños.
The company has announced it has ceased sourcing from the specific grower and is utilizing alternative suppliers. Taylor Fresh Foods is not aware of any reported illnesses directly linked to the products currently under recall.
The recalled items were sold at various major retailers, including Trader Joe's, Walmart, Whole Foods, Kroger, and Target. Consumers are advised to check product packaging and discard or return any affected items.
