TCL SunPower Launches X5 Commercial Energy Storage System in Europe

TCL SunPower has announced that its X5 hybrid energy storage system for commercial and industrial applications is now available for order throughout Europe. The system is designed to simplify battery installations for smaller commercial and industrial sites, offering an integrated, plug-and-play alternative to custom-built systems.

The X5 system features a factory-integrated 50 kW hybrid inverter within its cabinet, reducing installation complexity and on-site work. TCL estimates this approach can cut last-mile logistics and installation costs by up to 60% compared to on-site assembled systems.

This offering targets installations too small for bespoke battery systems but too demanding for residential-scale solutions. It supports grid-connected, off-grid, and microgrid applications with flexibility for islanding and automatic black start capabilities. The base unit offers 50 kWh or 100 kWh, expandable up to 400 kWh. Its compact design allows placement in space-constrained areas.

Integrated safety features include multi-level monitoring, fire suppression, and arc fault interruption. The system is managed by TCL's EMS controller and meets GDPR cybersecurity requirements. In Spain, the X5 has been deployed to convert an off-grid solar water pumping system into a hybrid solution with battery storage.
