TCL's New P80 Ultra Phone Offers E-Reader and OLED Display

TCL has introduced its new P80 Ultra smartphone, integrating the company's Nxtpaper technology with an OLED display. This new model allows the device to switch between functioning as a traditional smartphone with flagship-level OLED capabilities and an e-reader-like mode.

The phone can transition to a low-power, monochromatic display mode that replicates the look of paper, ideal for reading or minimizing distractions. During other times, users can benefit from the device's "flagship-level" OLED experience.

TCL first showcased its OLED Nxtpaper technology at MWC in March without specific products. The P80 Ultra is the first device to bring this technology to consumers. It features a 6.83-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits.

The design of the new P80 Ultra is described as more premium compared to previous Nxtpaper phones. This model represents TCL's effort to offer more versatile display solutions in its mobile devices, combining the reading comfort of e-readers with the versatility of smartphones.
