Teaching and research chair established for complex systems architecture
French defense firms and higher education institutions have established a new chair to study and teach complex systems architecture.
French technology companies Dassault Aviation, Dassault Systèmes, Naval Group, and Nexter, alongside the Defence Innovation Agency (AID) and Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), have established a new teaching and research chair.
The chair focuses on the architecture of complex systems, with its official creation announced at the Paris Air Show on June 22, 2023, in the presence of French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu.
The new chair aims to advance teaching and research through a systemic, multidisciplinary approach. This is deemed crucial for understanding increasingly complex industrial and defense systems, including the interconnection of hardware and software, and the networking of organizations. In the defense sector, this approach is vital for ensuring system robustness, security, and long-term adaptability.
The chair will allocate resources to enhance training at engineering schools within the IP Paris institute. Research will concentrate on key challenges such as system engineering, artificial intelligence integration, and the security of information and communication systems. The initial commitment for the project extends until the end of 2028.
