Team Group warns of upcoming peak in memory shortages
Memory manufacturer Team Group projects that the most critical period for DRAM supply constraints will occur between Q4 2026 and Q2 2027.
Team Group has issued a warning regarding the global DRAM market, suggesting that the most severe phase of current memory shortages has yet to arrive. The company forecasts that peak demand will hit between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the second quarter of 2027.
Major manufacturers including SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron have reportedly sold out their production capacity for 2027 through long-term supply agreements with large-scale clients. This trend has severely restricted availability for third-party procurement. While domestic manufacturers like CXMT and YMTC have expanded their combined market share to nearly 10 percent, their output remains insufficient to bridge the global supply-demand gap.
In response to these market conditions, Team Group has significantly altered its business structure. The company’s B2B operations now account for 64.6 percent of its business, a sharp increase from the 24.6 percent reported in the third quarter of 2025. This shift reflects a strategic reallocation toward enterprise clients as consumer supply chains tighten.
Market stabilization is not expected until the second half of 2028. Until then, sustained high prices and supply volatility are anticipated to continue.
