Teamsters Strike at Safran Seats Over Mandatory Overtime

Gainesville, Texas – Approximately 350 Teamsters Local 767 members employed at Safran Seats have initiated an unfair labor practice (ULP) strike at the company's Gainesville facility. The strike commenced on September 24, 2026, following a breakdown in contract negotiations, specifically concerning a dispute over mandatory overtime provisions.

Union leadership stated that the company's refusal to present a revised agreement without mandatory overtime left members with no alternative. "Instead of addressing Safran Teamsters' concerns with a provision in the tentative agreement, the company has decided to play games at the bargaining table and forced us to the picket line," said Dave Reeves, President of Local 767. He added that the strike would continue until the company presents a fair contract.

Safran Seats is a significant manufacturer of airplane seats for major airlines. Negotiations reached an impasse after union members rejected the company's prior offer on September 18, citing the mandatory overtime clause. Teamsters Local 767 had previously communicated to Safran that any contract proposal including mandatory overtime would not be acceptable.

"We are out here striking because we want no mandatory overtime, our holiday pay back, and fair wages for all of us Teamsters — even those who have topped out," said Michelle Shero, a Safran employee with 20 years of service. "We deserve a strong contract for all of the hard work we put in day in and day out."

Teamsters Local 767, chartered in 1956, represents workers at 10 employers in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area.
