Teamsters urge Illinois Democrats to respect picket lines at Navy Pier

Approximately 1,200 employees represented by Teamsters Local 727 have launched a strike against parking operators across the Chicago area, alleging unfair labor practices and bad-faith bargaining. The work stoppage follows a series of disputes regarding federal labor law compliance.

With Illinois Democrats scheduled to hold an election night event at Navy Pier, the union has publicly urged Governor JB Pritzker and Attorney General Kwame Raoul to respect any potential picket lines that may be established at the site. The union views the event as a litmus test for the officials' stated commitment to labor rights.

John T. Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727, stated that elected leaders should prioritize standing with workers during the ongoing dispute. The strike continues as the union seeks resolution with parking employers throughout the Chicagoland region.
