Tech industry layoffs continue into November
Amazon, Angi, Block, Canva, and Squarespace have announced workforce reductions, continuing a year of widespread job cuts across the technology sector.

The technology sector continues to face significant downsizing as multiple firms announce new rounds of layoffs. Amazon recently filed notice in Washington state confirming 95 job losses, adding to the more than 30,000 positions the e-commerce giant has cut over the past year.
Other companies are facing similar structural adjustments. Angi and Squarespace have both reported plans to eliminate approximately 300 roles each, with Squarespace’s cuts representing roughly 19% of its total workforce. Canva has also announced a major reorganization involving 1,271 employees, who will either be relocated or laid off.
Block, the payments company led by Jack Dorsey, has initiated another round of layoffs following its third-quarter financial report. While the company has not specified the total number of affected employees, the reductions focus on operational teams including customer support and risk management. Many of these firms are citing the need for increased organizational efficiency as they adapt to market shifts, including the competitive pressure introduced by new AI capabilities.
Data from Challenger, Gray & Christmas indicates that technology has been the hardest-hit industry in 2026. Through October, the sector saw 171,501 announced job cuts, a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
