TechNode Event: How AI Startups Can Attract Funding and Talent
TechNode hosted an event in Beijing discussing strategies for AI startups to secure funding and talent within their first year. The discussions highlighted the importance of strategic outreach and a clear value proposition.
On September 16, TechNode, in collaboration with Asia Capital Exchange (ACE), Lighthouse Capital, and BEYOND, organized a closed-door event in Beijing titled "ACE Gathering x Light Spot: The First Year of AI Startups." The gathering aimed to address the challenges faced by artificial intelligence startups in attracting capital and skilled personnel during their initial year of operation.
The roundtable discussion, moderated by Qiao Jianlong of AI Insider’s Demo Club, featured insights from Zheng Jinliang, co-founder of BASAL INTELLIGENCE; Song Haocong, founder and CEO of Aurano; Zhou Junting, CEO of Lingqi Xiyuan; and Li Zhengwei, managing director at Lighthouse Capital. A key focus was identifying methods for early-stage companies to proactively attract investors, talent, and customers.
Li Zhengwei of Lighthouse Capital emphasized that investors who initiate contact with a company are significantly more likely to invest compared to those approached through third-party introductions. He advised founders to seek influential individuals who understand their business and are willing to offer endorsements. Li also stressed the importance for founders to have a clear understanding of their product and team before seeking investment.
Song Haocong from Aurano highlighted the need for strategic foresight in a competitive landscape, suggesting that founders should pursue directions that might seem minor initially but possess potential for future growth. Zheng Jinliang of BASAL INTELLIGENCE focused on advancements in embodied AI, prioritizing problem-solving and data requirements over hardware development. Zhou Junting of Lingqi Xiyuan presented an approach to building infrastructure for scientific research leveraging AI.
